The Chiefs are set to re-sign Brandon “Claire” Nguyen and breakout young star Romeo “Thien” Tran for the 2020 season, and will bolster the roster with the addition of Dire Wolves bot laner Robert “Katsurii” Gouv, league sources have told Snowball Esports.
According to sources, the Chiefs have also set their eyes on filling the last two slots in their 2020 roster with import players, which would confirm that league MVP Quin “Raes” Korebrits and star rookie Bill “Eyla” Nguyen will both be heading out the door.
This news also comes days after Order announced the acquisition of the Chiefs’ 2019 jungler Jordan “Only” Middleton, who played a key role in guiding the org to a first-place finish in Split 2’s regular season, and runners-up overall.
The reported moves mark a major shift for the four-time Oceanic Pro League champions, who have been hunting a return to their historic throne since last claiming domestic silverware with a 3-0 victory over Legacy in 2016.
Most notably, with the reported departure of Raes, who was part of the OPL 2016 Split 2 title run, and news founding star Brandon “Swip3rR” Holland would be joining Order, the Chiefs will enter a split without a championship player for the first time since 2015.
If the Chiefs are successful in acquiring their import targets, this would also mark the first time the blue-and-white organisation has called upon foreign talent to bolster their league lineup, after ten consecutive seasons with Oceanic rosters.
The Oceanic Pro League is expected to return in January 2020. For more offseason moves and info, follow Snowball Esports on Twitter.
